Electromagnetic Locks

Elsema stocks electromagnetic locks for all types of doors and gates. Our models are designed to secure any type of door or gate that closes against a fixed stop. All of our lock components are carefully designed, manufactured and tested to ensure superior quality.

An Electromagnetic lock, commonly referred to as a maglock, is a locking device that employs an electromagnetic field to secure doors and entry points. This device comprises two primary components: an electromagnet and an armature plate. The electromagnet portion is mounted on the door frame, while the armature plate is attached to the door itself. When the lock is energized by applying power, the electromagnet engages, creating a strong magnetic field that attracts and holds the armature plate, thereby securing the door in a closed position.

Electromagnetic locks are preferred for their strength and simplicity, offering a significant holding force that can withstand substantial pressure, making them highly effective for securing entrances against unauthorized access. Unlike conventional mechanical locks, maglocks have no moving parts involved in the locking mechanism, which contributes to their durability and low maintenance requirements.

This locking system is extensively used in access control systems across various settings, including commercial buildings, offices, and sensitive areas requiring high-security measures. Electromagnetic locks can be integrated with modern security systems, allowing them to be remotely controlled or linked with other security devices such as keypads, card readers, and biometric scanners. This integration enables sophisticated control over entry points, enhancing overall security protocols.
