High Quality Gear Rack Available at Elsema

Gear racks are essential components in the operation of automatic sliding gates, ensuring smooth and reliable performance. Choosing durable, high quality racks is crucial when automating your gates, as they play a pivotal role in the gate’s overall functionality. A well made gear rack enables seamless movement, allowing the sliding gate to open and close with precision and efficiency.

When investing in automatic gates, durability is key. High quality gear racks are built to withstand the demands of daily use, even in harsh weather conditions. This durability ensures long lasting performance, reducing the need for frequent maintenance or replacement. By selecting a reliable gear rack, you enhance the overall lifespan of your gate system, ensuring that it operates smoothly for years to come.

Additionally, high quality racks contribute to the safety and security of the automatic gate system. By maintaining precise alignment and movement, they prevent malfunctions that could cause operational issues or compromise the security of your property.

Elsema: Frequently Asked Questions

Elsema gear racks are manufactured from high-quality nylon fiber reinforced with an internal steel core. This combination provides the quiet operation of nylon with the structural strength and durability of steel.

Nylon-reinforced racks are generally quieter during operation and do not require lubrication. Because they have a steel core, they maintain their shape and strength, offering a rust-resistant alternative that is ideal for residential and light industrial environments.

Each gear rack is supplied in 1-meter lengths. This modular design allows you to easily customise the total length to match the specific width of your sliding gate.

  • Lug Down (e.g., GR-4D, GR-1D): The mounting lugs point downward. These are the most common and are typically used when the motor is mounted on the ground.
  • Lug Up (e.g., GR-1U): The mounting lugs point upward. These are used in specific installations where the rack needs to be mounted differently due to the gate’s frame design or motor placement.

Elsema gear racks feature a protruding lip and interlocking slots at each end. This allows the racks to slide securely into one another, ensuring a seamless transition for the motor’s drive gear (pinion) as the gate moves.

Each 1-meter length features six fixing points. These slots are designed to allow for minor adjustments during installation to ensure the rack is perfectly level and aligned with the motor pinion.

Yes. Elsema gear racks are typically supplied as a kit that includes the necessary mounting screws and brackets (lugs) required for installation.

No. It is a common recommendation for nylon-based gear racks that you do not use grease or other lubricants between the rack and the motor pinion. Lubricants can attract dirt and grit, which may cause premature wear.

Elsema gear racks use a standard gear pitch, which is the industry standard for most residential and commercial sliding gate openers. They are designed to work perfectly with Elsema’s iS series motors (iS600, iS900, iS1400, iS1500, iS2000 and iS3000).

For optimal performance, there should be a small gap (approximately 1–2mm) between the teeth of the motor pinion and the gear rack. The gate should be able to move freely by hand without the rack riding too heavily on the motor’s drive gear, which could damage the motor bearings over time.
